Welcome to my new site!

Collection - News • Written by Cindy - December 28, 2008

Every winter, I overhaul my website. This year I decided to do something entirely different and incorporate my blog with my site. I think it will work better for finding exactly what you’re looking for.

Some cool things:

  • my latest blog postings will be here on the home page;
  • the “Collections” menu option sorts posts into specific categories of my work;
  • the “Archive” menu option sorts by months;
  • you can use the search tool to search within my site for names or keywords;
  • the subscribe option in the menu bar provides a way for you to stay current with anything new on this site (if you subscribed to my old blog, you’ll need to re-subscribe);
  • my site is now interactive and the comment option is finally turned ON! So go ahead and comment away! :-)

Another thing I’m excited about is my new Commercial/Modeling offer! Check out the page about it under “Information” and be sure to watch the slideshow you’ll find there.

I’ve imported my entire old blog, so nothing is lost! If you have private galleries on my server, they’re still there with the same URL.

It still is – and probably always will be – a work in progress, so if you have any suggestions, or if you’re missing something I left out, let me know. I want my site to still be a fun place to visit!

And for some welcoming fun, here’s my new slideshow featuring some favorites from my commercial stock photography set to one of my favorite songs. More info and opportunities on the commercial/modeling page. Just click on the image to see the show, and it will start when it’s finished loading.

GenerateX is LIVE!

Collection - News • Written by Cindy - March 26, 2008

YES! GenerateX is now online! It’s for photographers who use Adobe® Photoshop® CS3 or CS2, need the ability to host their own galleries for their clients, and offer a way for clients to order/pay for prints online. I know what a digital photography business is like and how busy you are, and you probably don’t want to deal with a potential hassle. So the hassle part is done for you! These templates are customized for you and work with the Web Photo Gallery generator which is part of Photoshop and Bridge.

Now some of you are wondering where this is coming from since most know me as a photographer, not a web designer. Few know I’ve actually been doing web design for myself and friends for as long as I’ve been doing photography. I’ve just been more of a closet computer geek. I’ve been doing these templates for my own client galleries for several years, and now I’m sharing them. So – if you’re a photographer and wish you had your own custom template, come on over to GenerateX.com and take a closer look. We’d love to make you one!

Goings On

Collection - News • Written by Cindy - March 4, 2008

Even though I haven’t posted for awhile, things have been busy! With yearbook deadlines quickly approaching and the weather pretty awful, my studio gear got quite the workout with local dance, cheer, flag and drill teams wanting something a little special for their portraits. The Junior Miss pageant is also preparing for their big night which is coming up on April 17th and I do all the girls’ portraits for the pageant’s publicity every year. After one of my team shoots, I headed to my church where our youth group had a Valentine’s Day dinner as a fund raising event which I volunteered to help them with. I took portraits of couples and some families after they finished a wonderful dinner. I have to admit that even though I’m a natural light fanatic and love shooting outdoors, I had a lot of fun with my studio lights this winter.

Another thing going on is that we’re gearing up for the Idaho International Dance and Music Festival which will take place in Burley and Rupert July 22-26. Possible teams as of now include Belgium, China, France, Greece, Japan, Macedonia, Mexico, Sri Lanka, India, Dominican Republic, Israel, Russia: Cossack and Siberian, USA. I LOVE festival time and making new friends from all corners of this planet. For some visitors, this will be their first time in America and this community goes the extra mile to make them feel welcome. They stay in our homes while they are here which really gives our guests and their hosts a chance to learn about each other. If you’d like to see some of the highlights from last year’s festival, here’s the link to a slideshow I put together of some of my favorite shots – FESTIVAL SHOW. The teams were from Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Peru, Philippines, and Japan.

If you live in in the Mini-Cassia area and would like to be a host family, e-mail me your contact information and someone from the housing committee will contact you. This will be our 5th year and it gets bigger every year! As people come and experience it and feel the energy and excitement in the air, they tell others about it and come back.

New Site, Portfolio Show, and the Bridal Expo

Collection - News • Written by Cindy - January 9, 2008

The Bridal Expo was this past Saturday at the Ballroom in Twin Falls and it was busy! It was fun meeting so many happy people and I look forward to getting to know my brides and grooms this coming year.

Every year about this time I overhaul and re-design my entire website, put up new galleries, and put together a new portfolio slide show. The show this time is a little different in that you can watch it online rather than downloading it to your hard drive. It still takes 4 or 5 minutes on a high speed connection to load (it’s big!), but it should be easier for Windows users, and it will play on Macintosh which is a first for my shows. It’s called “Let’s Just Let Go!” (Turn on your speakers;)) Then come by my website and check out what’s new!

Mike and Ariel

Collection - Newlywed, News • Written by Cindy - August 6, 2007

Well, it’s been crazy being a busy wedding photographer AND a first time mother-of-the-bride, but Mike and Ariel are now married! I so appreciate the patience my wonderful clients have had with me, and I promise I’ll be getting caught up ASAP.

Mike and Ariel were married in the beautiful Salt Lake LDS Temple. It was an amazing and emotional day! We went down the week before and took these pictures since taking them on their wedding day would be impossible because of time constraints. We were also able to choose the best lighting without worrying about the hectic schedule of a wedding day. We were all able to relax and just have fun. And we had a blast! All these pictures and many more were in the slide show playing at their reception, and many were also printed and displayed as well.

Oh, I have a new product! Mike and Ariel wanted to do something other than a signature mat, but something nicer than a normal guest book. The lab I work with just started making these library bound, leather covered books and I gave it a try. It turned out beautiful! I went with the yearbook/graffiti wall look and this is how it looks… I’ll be adding it to my product list soon!

This one was a 20″x30″ matted and framed print near the guest book…

New Server! New Show!

Collection - News • Written by Cindy - February 17, 2007

After getting tired of running out of room on my old server, I’ve finally found a new home for my site with Start Logic. They were so helpful throughout the transition and I think I’m going to love being there! I’ve had a new wedding show with updated pictures and I was just waiting to be settled with my new server before uploading it. So, here it is! Now I’m off to Salt Lake City for a pre-wedding shoot with Jason and Lorisa. What a BEAUTIFUL DAY!

You can download the new show by clicking HERE then choosing “save” to begin. File size is 18.6MB and will play on any Windows based computer.

Happy 2007!

Collection - News • Written by Cindy - January 17, 2007

What a wild beginning to the New Year! Brian and Niki were married on the 4th, and I’ll be posting more from their wedding celebration very soon. I also had a display at the Bridal Expo held at The Ballroom in Twin Falls on January 13th. What an awesome turnout! I met so many brides&grooms-to-be! Some have already contracted with me to be their photographer and I look forward to getting to know them better.
I cleaned out my old blog posts since some of the photos were linked to deleted folders making it look messy, so that’s why it’s kind of barren right now. I’ll remedy that problem very soon, though! I also re-did my website! It was a big project, but I’m pretty happy with it right now. I put a lot of pictures in the galleries for easy viewing, and I’ll be updating my slide shows just as soon as I can, as well as add a new show just for engagment pictures. It’s going to be so cool!
