I had the opportunity to take portraits of some sweet dogs at the Minidoka County Animal Shelter, all who would give anything for good homes to devote themselves to. Every one of them were so happy to have attention
If you’ve never had a rescue dog, let me tell you… they’re something special. After going thru feelings of loss, abandonment, abuse, starvation, etc., a rescue dog appreciates more than a dog acquired as a puppy. They will do anything for your love and acceptance. One of my current pets is a rescue. We don’t know what her early life was like, but she seems to appreciate her home with us a little more than our other pet we got as a puppy.
Another rescue dog we had several years back was a Rottweiler that had been abused and dumped near our place. I was nervous about a “bully breed”, but he won our hearts. I did research bully breeds, and guess what? They generally have huge hearts. A dog couldn’t be more loyal and devoted to our family than our Rottie was! He spent the rest of his life with us and died feeling loved.
Ken (left), the animal control officer, helped with the photo shoot and was given so many warm fuzzy hugs. Talk about a heart melter to see these dogs bursting with love to give! They’re available now, so if you or someone you know has room in their hearts and lives for more love, send them to the shelter and they’ll find it! You can reach the shelter at (208) 438-2200.
These portraits were taken just this past Monday, November 25th, and all dogs were available at that time. I do know that shipping is sometimes a possibility, so if you are interested in one of these dogs and don’t live in the area, do call them and see if something can be worked out.
