Family Portraits with the Handy’s

Such a beautiful family! We were planning on doing these outdoors on a particular Saturday when all the family would be in town. The weather did not cooperate with our plans and it was very cold and windy that day, which wasn’t going to work for this session. So we moved it into their beautiful home! Just a little rearranging of furniture and setting up studio equipment and it was the perfect setting! The wind did die down later on and we were able to get a few shots outdoors. Although it was still plenty cold and breezy!

Kasey’s Senior Portraits

Kasey is such a beautiful and talented girl! This was a fun session that also included their ginormous Great Dane puppy, and the opportunity to hear Kasey play her violin! She played so beautifully, I would have loved to listen to her for hours. The weather wasn’t too great as thick storm clouds came rolling in making it really dark out there at Lake Walcott. Luckily I have a bag of tricks so we could create our own sunshine and capture the beautiful fall foliage background ;)

Nikki is such a sweet girl and is beautiful inside and out! I was happy we were able to do some of her session both in studio and outdoors.

Fairy and the Unicorn

Animals and children are such challenging subjects to photograph, which is why they’re among my favorites. Their innocence and very nature makes capturing them with a camera a real adventure. Adding in the other elements like costume design and logistics made this an all around fun project :)

Flying Dreams

We’ve had a lot of rain here in the desert the last few days. It’s made everything so pretty. Yesterday as the wind was blowing, and the cloud cover thick, I wanted to go outdoors and create something artistic using the muted colors I’d been admiring through the window. So I asked on Facebook if any local models were available that could come out right away, and Caitlin Heiner was fortunately available and up for adventure! So here is a totally unplanned photo shoot – except the wings which I’d been planning for some time.
