Some days have a mystical quality to them. This particular Saturday was especially so. The weather was extreme and almost overpowered our plans, so there was already a strange energy in the air. We had discussed costume, hair, and makeup, but I still did not know what to expect. Inviting someone else to share themselves in a combined creative vision is always an interesting experience. I wanted Miranda’s creative influence for this shoot because of her unique way of thinking outside the box. I wanted something different and I knew this would be a fascinating daydream.
When Angel stepped out of the car and into the storm, it was like she stepped through centuries of time. Her hair and makeup were unconventional, and her countenance held a thousand mysteries. In my studio, the costume became complete. It was bizarre – and beautiful. I am often inspired by those I’m working with, and Angel and Miranda were my muses this day. I matched the lighting with my new vision, and set about uncovering some of those mysteries Angel was presenting.

And then we went out into the storm, briefly

And here’s a bit of fun retro! A pin up shoot with a twist – Cait wearing a burlap potato sack dress! This was inspired by a shoot Marilyn Monroe did back in the 50′s (Google It). As you can see, we had a lot of fun with it

If you follow my blog, you’ve seen Vanessa before and know she’s a competition body builder and personal trainer, so it’s no wonder she looks amazing even when she’s pregnant! She brought along John and their adorable daughter, so we had a fun and full session

This is my adorably great nephew and he was only 10 days old for this session. What a sweetheart he is! One of the perks of newborn sessions is all the snuggling I get to do with them trying to soothe them to sleep. In Bencyn’s case, that was pretty much after every pose!
